Celebrating Diversity
Last December we profiled Lydia of Living Full Kombucha who shared her compelling start-up story on Instagram. Living Full recently posted another compelling message to Instagram – celebrating the diversity of the customers who frequent their taproom. This is something Booch News posted about back in 2018, when we “searched out pictures that show other kombucha lovers than those who practice yoga or loll around on the beach.” It’s heartwarming to know that all kinds of people are enjoying ‘booch in Illinois in 2025.
Someone new to us at the bar asked us last weekend who are the “typical” people who walk in and drink here. “I’m guessing mostly younger, health minded folks”, they added.
It was hard to contain our smirk as we began to think of all of you who visit our taproom:
π’ It’s the elderly woman who was recommended by her doctor to add kombucha to her diet, and is now excited to fill up a howler and bonds with another elderly woman over their love of reading cottagecore.
π’ It’s the UPS driver who excitedly tells us kombucha replaced his soda addiction.
π’It’s a reconnection of a father and his teenage daughter trying something new together in between her hectic sports schedule.
π’ It’s Shawn’s high school students clumped around the corner of the bar as he teaches undercover bar etiquette and manners.
π’ It’s the retired couple who convinced her begrudging husband to “just c’mon and try one sip” and now visits on his own to fill up his growlers he swore would ever be filled with beer.
π’ It’s the freshman college student who whispers through a smile, “I was regular this morning- that never happens!”
π’ It’s the non-binary couple who is not afraid to steal a kiss with their partner, knowing they are safe AF in our space.
π’ It’s the single guy who timidly shared with us his sobriety journey but now proudly brings his coworkers from the trades to “try his usual.”
π’ It’s the collective clap from everyone at the bar to the four year old as he just completed the infamous wooden cat puzzle as his mom nurses her other child on the couch.
π’ It’s the new blended family in town relocated to the Naval Station who found a community they found instant connection with.
πIt’s you.
We ARE diverse (and that’s the beauty of it!!), yet we all interconnect over this living drink.
Does your local bar offer that?
πWe may be biased but our diverse community makes our kombucha taste so much better. And we thank you for that.
Come join us. You are welcome here.
