Investment opportunity: Salt Spring Island Kombucha, BC, Canada
Canadian investor Gord McDougall, recently profiled in Booch News, has an opportunity for anyone interested in life on scenic Salt Spring Island, near Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
Salt Spring Island Kombucha is looking to either sell their business or bring in a working partner with capital. The capital required from a prospective partner is C$100,000 to C$200,000 or approximately C$500,000 for a 100% purchase.
The company is, according to their website
On a 5 acre, sun-drenched farm on Salt Spring Island, we are growing community, sustainability, batches of beautiful kombucha and batches of beautiful children. I started our company 5 years ago with the modest ambition of making the best kombucha the world has ever seen…(and)…a flavour profile that kept all the elements of kombucha in balance. We blend a unique brew that is crafted in small batches using our mountain spring water and organic teas, including immune boosting Yerba Mate, an antioxidant powerhouse. Our flavours feature healing herbs, many of which we grow on our organic farm.
The product is available online, as well as in about 60 retail locations in British Columbia.
The brewery has the space available to double or triple sales. They currently produce approximately 7,000 liters/month with a capacity of 12,000 liters/month.
A quick back-of-the-envelop calculation by Booch News shows that with a retail price of C$122 for a 19L keg, 7,000L/month multiplies out to C$540,000 in gross revenue annually. Actual numbers will no doubt vary.
Ideally, this investment opportunity is of interest to someone who wants to work and live on Salt Spring Island, but it can also relocate.
