Roy Kombucha Acquired by Beer Company
Fabio Carlucci grew Germany’s ROY Kombucha from a kitchen counter in 2019 to an international brand distributing products to more than 20 countries. Booch News profiled the brand in 2023. Fabio also organized a series of Berlin Kombucha Summit events, detailed in our extensive reports.
BRLO Acquisition
The Berlin-based brewery BRLO is further expanding its commitment to the non-alcoholic beverage segment and acquired ROY Kombucha on February 1, 2026. The ROY Kombucha brand will remain and will be further developed under the BRLO umbrella. For the past two years, ROY has been producing as an independent company at the BRLO brewery in Spandau. Production processes have been continuously integrated, and a successful partnership has existed from the outset. Through this merger, both brands will combine their strengths and aim to generate new momentum in the beverage segment – particularly in the rapidly growing category of non-alcoholic, conscious beverages.
ROY founder Fabio Carlucci will remain with the company and assume leadership and strategic development of ROY at BRLO. With a projected hectoliter growth of approximately 50% in 2025, around 800 points of sale in Germany, and over 20 export partners, ROY is on a clear growth trajectory with European relevance in the kombucha market.
Integration
Fabio writes:
Since day one, we’ve pursued our vision of shaping a new generation of refreshing beverages that are more versatile in taste, produced transparently in-house, and better for people and the environment. Staying true to this purpose has meant facing countless challenges, highs and lows, tough decisions, beautiful wins, and an unbelievable amount of work. Joining forces with BRLO allows us to combine our strengths, invest further in ROY’s growth, and focus even more on what we do best. Over the past two years of sharing a production space as tenants, we’ve already experienced the energy and alignment that make this partnership so exciting.
Katharina Kurz, co-founder and managing director of BRLO writes:
The synergies in production and distribution are obvious. With the integration of ROY, we are not only expanding our portfolio but also our target group in the rapidly growing segment of non-alcoholic beverages – a trend that naturally combines awareness and enjoyment.
Since its market launch at the end of 2019, ROY Kombucha has stood for hand-brewed, high-quality kombucha from Berlin. ROY has produced and scaled its trendy beverage, based on fermented tea and high-quality organic ingredients, in-house from the very beginning. The product range includes classic and innovative flavors such as Ginger, Raspberry, Strawberry & Basil, and Cucumber & Mint, as well as regular limited editions. ROY products are available in 0.33l cans, reusable bottles, and as a “Do it yourself” Kombucha Brewing Kit for home use.
For BRLO, this merger means a strengthening of the team and a strategically important expansion of the product range to include premium non-alcoholic beverages that meet the increasing demand in the trade, catering and end consumer sectors for conscious, tasteful alternatives to classic soft drinks.
