2022 Social Media Stats: Twitter
This is the fourth and the last time we’ll provide Twitter stats from the Worldwide Directory. That’s not because of the controversy around the well-publicized change in ownership at the company. Only one in 10 kombucha brands currently have a Twitter account. Of those in the worldwide top 20 list (by the number of followers), only two have tweeted in the past 12 months. The number of followers is essentially static.
For those interested in seeing the changes, the leader boards and detailed report on the number of tweets can be found here for 2021, 2020, and 2019. Over that time, the number of brands with a Twitter account fell from 18% to 11%.

Booch News Tweets
Despite the irrelevance of Twitter as a marketing channel for most kombucha brands, Booch News – as do many major news outlets (!) – posts frequent updates. Over the past year, we’ve posted over 250 industry news updates.
In the past 30 days alone, if you followed our account, you would have read about the pub in Belfast, Northern Ireland, that refuses to serve non-alcoholic drinks; a new brand in the UK with a turnover of £120,000 operating out of a spare bedroom; our gentle correction of Health-Ade founder Dana Trout’s estimate of the number of US brands; and the debate about who founded the world’s first commercial kombucha company: GT Dave or….Robert Deering!
